Smart collars for health conditions and activities monitoring of dogs
To enhance the overall management and monitoring of the detector dogs in kennels, the Department plans to apply technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning System (GPS), etc., to develop smart collars that can monitor health conditions and activities of detector dogs in an automated and electronic way.

Canine Management
With the smart collars and associated system and application, the department can collect health data of the detector dogs, e.g. body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and emotions, and record their activities inside and outside the kennels, e.g. location, movement route, distance and duration, for better management and follow-up by the dogs’ handlers. The system can also alert the dog handlers if any abnormalities of the detector dog were detected.
