The existing workflow of handling applications of a public service involves a number of manual processes, such as verifying the information stated in application forms against those contained in supporting documents, which include English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese handwritten documents, through visual inspection. The process is time-consuming and prone to error. The department intends to make use of technologies to automate the verification processes for improvement of process accuracy and operational efficiency.
